I absolutely had to post this one. Stella McCartney is yet again expanding her brand’s reach and her latest target audience is the grade-school set. McCartney’s first full children’s wear collection, done in collaboration with Gap Kids and Baby Gap, will be launched shortly on November 2nd at select Gap stores in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., France and Japan. The 70-piece line takes inspiration from both the design signature McCartney has developed in her own collections and her practical experience as a mother of three. Some of the pieces are “Mini-Me” versions of designs from McCartney’s ready-to-wear collections. There’s a gray sweater dress knit with a leopard design, which appeared full-size in the designer’s fall 2009 collection, along with skinny gray jeans with ankle zippers and a snug gray cable-knit cardigan dress. The images, shot by Ryan McGinley, feature 20 children ranging in age from one to eight years-old, who share the spotlight with fluffy baby chicks, iguanas, rabbits, a miniature donkey and even a fox. (That little fox and Stella McCartney have a history, see here.) I don’t have a son, but you better believe that if I did he would absolutely, positively be rocking that band leader jacket. Wow!

Stella McCartney x Bambi Campaign

Nature-loving Stella McCartney must have paid Disney a lot of money for the rights to produce this Bambi-inspired ad campaign for her upcoming Fall collection. Shot by photographer Ryan McGinley in the woods of Worcestershire, England, the campaign features cinema’s most famous deer and his pals Thumper, Friend Owl, and Flower the skunk. “I’m a huge Bambi fan, and the film reminds me of my mum,” said McCartney, referring to the late Linda McCartney. “And we wanted to have some fun. The clothes in the campaign are looking quite fierce, and we wanted to contrast them with the innocence of Bambi,” she added. Model Sigrid Agren is pictured stroking a live fox, while the Disney characters have been layered onto the photos. The art direction was done by McCartney’s in-house team, together with Partner and Partner in London. The ads will break as double-page spreads in the September issues of French, Italian and British Vogue, and V Magazine.
