H&M F/W 2010 Mens Preview

H&M has released a few images as a sneak peak in to their forthcoming Fall / Winter 2010 Mens Collection. What really jumps out at you from the second you scan over the images is the heavy influence of layering and the consistent use of boots. The offering also solidifies the brand’s foray into footwear, and continuing commitment to outerwear and accessories. I don’t think I have the swagger to pull off a suit with the pant legs stuffed in to boots or a leather belt outside a pea coat, but I can admire the effort nonetheless.

The global success of H&M is still amazing to me. On point, current fashion trends at low cost shouldn’t be a revolutionary concept, but for some sick reason it was. For what is an in-store publication, H&M Magazine manages to get some big names and quality shoots. This Spring 2010 issue for example features model Natasa Vojnovic shot by Terry Richardson in the latest 2010 seasonal offerings from the retailer. As expected the collection offers pieces inspired by the latest and greatest in trends like military themed pieces, denim tops, lingerie as outerwear, and exposed midriffs.

Jimmy Choo for H&M by Tamara Mellon

I know some of you are looking at this post and scratching your heads thinking “what else could this guy possibly have to say about the forthcoming Jimmy Choo for H&M collection after four posts already?” (See here, here, here, and here.) I agree five posts is a bit on the overkill side, but it is not often that you get the designer talking to you about how they would wear their own collection. It is interesting to hear Tamara Mellon’s perspective on the pieces of the collection and how they came to fruition. One thing I did note from the video is that she refers to the Jimmy Choo for H&M Mens collection as a line made to compliment the Jimmy Choo for H&M Womens collection.

Jimmy Choo for H&M Commercial

A few weeks back we brought you the first ad campaign images from both the mens and the womens collections of the Jimmy Choo for H&M collaboration, and now we have the TV commercial. The influence of Jimmy Choo was evident in the selection of their longtime director / photographer of choice, the legendary Terry Richardson, who shot this commercial through The Standard Hotel in New York. In typical Terry Richardson style the imagery is a little grungy and strangely provocative considering all you really see are feet and legs. I guess it helps when those feet belong to none other than the gorgeous Sasha Pivovarova and Edita Vilkeviciute.

Jimmy Choo for H&M Womens Collection

Following the preview release of the upcoming Jimmy Choo for H&M Mens Collection, the womens collection preview is now also available. Scheduled to hit stores November 14th of this year both the mens and the womens lines appear to draw from the same basic color palette. Unlike the mens line; however, the womens appears to be a lot more fashion forward. Studded pieces, particularly shoes and belts have been big on runways for the fall / winter 2009 showings as well as strappy “gladiator-like” footwear. Got that ladies? Strappy and studded. If I were a girl I would be excited for this collection which includes everything from clothes, to shoes, accessories, and more!

Jimmy Choo for H&M Mens Collection

A while back I brought you a teaser of the upcoming Jimmy Choo for H&M collaboration, but I would be lying if I didn’t say that I had no idea a menswear line was also in the works. Let’s face it, the sight of a Jimmy Choo label isn’t exactly going to send guys dashing into the stores like the release of Kanye’s Nike Air Yeezys. But, these new leaked photos of the line for H&M give us a look at a well-cut blazer and leather jacket, some knits and tees, jeans, and, of course, a few shoes and boots. All of the pieces are simple and appear to be cleanly designed and appealingly uncomplicated for that wardrobe staple instead of a seasonal trend. Personally, I am really impressed by the faded blue denim.

Jimmy Choo for H&M Teaser

It took some searching and a bit of time, but I managed to dig up the only legitimate teaser I could find of the upcoming Jimmy Choo for H&M collaboration. I tweeted about the next designer to team up with H&M off of Matthew Williamson‘s well received efforts, but did not want to post until I had something tangible to show you all. There will be footwear and bags for both men and women available sometime in November 2009. If I were a girl I would be all over these bad boys. Oh, and for those of you who don’t know the woman in the pictures, her name is Tamara Mellon. Mellon is President and Founder of Jimmy Choo who originally approached then bespoke shoe maker Mr. Jimmy Choo to create the now iconic luxury footwear brand. Breaking fashion news, pictures, and knowledge, what more could you ask for people?

H&M A/W 2009 Womens Lookbook

H&M has some major collaborations coming up in the not too distant future with Divided Exclusive and Jimmy Choo which have garnered a lot of attention recently. But, this shouldn’t take away from H&M’s surprisingly fashionable Autumn / Winter 2009 line. Here is a peak at the new lookbook which artfully styles some Divided Exclusive collaboration pieces and regular H&M pieces together. With results like these for the women I am excited to see the menswear shows which start next week and the Spring 2010 season which is not too far away at this point.

H&M N.E.R.D. Shirt

Earlier this week I brought you a look at H&M’s Fashion Against AIDS campaign and never being the one to endorse a product that I don’t believe in you knew I was going to do my part. I had already seen most of the shirts online for the campaign, but I did see a pretty cool offering designed by Yoko Ono in store that I hadn’t seen before. Other than that I arrived at my local H&M knowing that I was going to pick up the teal N.E.R.D. designed graphic t-shirt. Typically I don’t really wear t-shirts, but I figured if you are going to start, might as well be for a good cause. The quality is surprisingly good and the shirt is super soft thanks to the 100% organic cotton. Here is an iPhone picture of the shirt, my digital camera has seen the last of its days apparently and decided to call it a wrap, so my apologies for the poor quality.

H&M Fashion Against AIDS

H&M released this promo video for their Fashion Against AIDS campaign and matching line which hits stores today. Katy Perry, Dita Von Teese, Estelle, Robyn, and Dangerous Muse are all interviewed about their contributions to their sponsored pieces from the line. Also making contributions to the line, but not featured on the video were Tokio Hotel, N.E.R.D., Good Charlotte, Cyndi Lauper, Yelle, Rihanna, Timbaland, Ziggy Marley and more. The artists participate free of charge and 25% of the selling price of the collection will go to HIV/AIDS-prevention projects around the world, reaching more than 600 million young people in 60 countries. All garments feature the Fashion Against Aids label, are made from 100% organic cotton, and the name of the artist who designed it is printed on the neck line. Do something good and look good for doing it, go buy one.
