Tanner Goods Standard Belt

I guess you can say that this really isn’t the newest of products, but it is definitely one you should know about.  Tanner Goods‘ small team of craftsmen (one of the few companies who use the label “craftsmen” who actually deserve it) create hand-crafted leather goods produced with time tested tools and heritage techniques.  In fact they have even sought out antique equipment that produce the best results including a heritage saddle maker who started as an apprentice in the industry in 1964 who proudly does all of the brand’s sewing.  I have always admired their quality of craftsmanship, but never really committed to buying one of their pieces.  Until now.  Browsing for content for this site I ran across AJ Chen’s own blog.  Some of you may know AJ as an integral part of 3sixteen and Self Edge, but for those of you who don’t I suggest you get acquainted.  Reading through AJ’s blog I found a post from him professing his love for frequent collaborator Tanner Goods’ Standard Belt.  More impressive was how the natural colored belt with nickel hardware aged so elegantly.  It is only after seeing the beauty of such age can you truly appreciate what Tanner Goods is all about.  The 1.5 inch wide belt is constructed from 11 ounce vegetable dyed English Bridle leather with edges burnished and waxed by hand in Portland, Oregon.  I have included pictures of the wide variety of colorways the brand offers in both belts and in hardware as well as a picture of AJ Chen’s own belt for reference.
