Kehinde Wiley x Puma Collection

To celebrate the start of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa year and to honor the longstanding partnership between Puma and African soccer (the brand sponsors 12 African teams, four of whom qualified for the World Cup) Puma has partnered with Kehinde Wiley. A Los Angeles native and New York based visual artist, Kehinde Wiley who’s work focuses on contemporary African American men has been commissioned for four original works of art inspired by three of the most decorated soccer players. Wiley’s work features a distinctive use of elaborate, graphic and colorful wallpaper-like backgrounds that bears a modern resemblance to traditional West African textile prints. The collection will offer a variety of apparel pieces, including footwear and will obviously be heavily influenced by African culture through the eyes and talented mind of Kehinde Wiley.
