Alife Public Naval Glen Plaid

Since so many of you ran out and picked up a Hype Means Nothing Gaga Shirt, I know you are looking for the perfect accessory to go with your new gear. Throw on a pair of khaki chino pants from Gap, get a pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarers, and right before you roll out the door you look down at your feet and ask yourself “Which pair of sneakers are getting the call up to come to work?” Allow me to introduce you to Alife’s new glen plaid variant of their Public Naval low-top sneaker. The cork-board soled shoe combined with the white leather laces provides a nod to many boat shoes, while the sophisticated plaid upper offers a more mature footwear look. Lady Gaga would be proud. This is where most websites would stop after some witty rhetoric, but let us drop some knowledge before we depart people. Glen Plaid is short for Glen Urquhart plaid and is a woollen fabric with a woven twill design of small and large checks. The name is taken from the valley of Glenurquhart in Inverness-shire, Scotland, where the checked wool was first used in the 1800s by the New Zealand-born countess of Seafield to outfit her gamekeepers. Only to become famous decades later by such greats as Ronald Reagan and Pee-Wee Herman.
