Earlier this month I brought you a look at The Standard Hotel x Quiksilver Swimwear collaboration. When you are collaborating with one of the coolest hotels around you had to expect that there would be a pretty awesome launch party. And, since it was swimwear, a pool party seemed that much more appropriate. The “Summer Extravaganza” last week featured the first-ever boardshorts/bikini vending machine (which was also selling condoms), a photobooth with vintage Quiksilver mannequins, mismatched flip flops by Quiksilver for all attendees (right foot patterned, left foot solid), special custom t-shirt screening on site at event (guests picked graphics and placement and shirts were made on the spot), live bands, water guns, giant twister board, and my personal favorite black and red jello shots with surf themed Sprinkles cupcakes. There was also an Echo Beach Retrospective, 1978-1982: Surf Culture Art Exhibition on second floor of The Standard Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA) for those cultured party goers.
