El Mac & Retna “Margulies” Mural

These two artists never cease to amaze me. Last month I brought you a look at El Mac and Retna’s “Ave Maria” Mural which was an exceptional 44-feet high ”Hail Mary” inspired piece in Salt Lake City, Utah. Well the boys are back with a mural titled “Margulies” in Miami, Florida and the results are just as exceptional. Participating in the events surrounding Art Basel this year El Mac and Retna were commissioned this time by the Margulies Collection as part of Primary Flight. Housed in a large, newly converted warehouse in the Wynwood Arts District near downtown Miami, the Margulies Collection at the Warehouse is an extensive collection of contemporary and vintage photography, video, sculpture and installation, from the holdings of prominent Miami collector Martin Z. Margulies. Primary Flight is dubbed “the world’s largest site-specific street level mural installation” and is part of the Art Basel festivities. Graffiti is so culture heavy and that is what I love about what these two guys do, you can just feel the heritage in each mural.
